What is Kanban?
Kanban is a visual workflow system where:
- Columns represent stages (Applied, Interview, Offer, etc.)
- Cards represent individual applications
- Drag and drop moves applications between stages
Navigating the Board
Switch to Kanban View
- Go to Applications
- Click the View toggle in the top right
- Select Kanban
Understanding Columns
Each column represents a stage in your workflow:
| Default Stages | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Prospect | Jobs you're interested in |
| Applied | Application submitted |
| Screening | Initial phone/recruiter screen |
| Interview | Active interview process |
| Offer | Received an offer |
| Closed | No longer active |
Working with Cards
Card Information
Each card shows:
- Company name
- Job title
- Days since last update
- Priority indicator (if set)
Quick Actions
Hover over a card to:
- View details - Full application info
- Edit - Update any field
- Move - Change status
- Archive - Remove from active view
Drag and Drop
Move an application by:
- Click and hold the card
- Drag to the target column
- Release to update the status
Customizing Your Board
Reorder Columns
Drag column headers to rearrange the order.
Collapse Columns
Click the column header to collapse/expand.
Filter Applications
Use the filter bar to show only:
- Specific companies
- Date ranges
- Priority levels
Tips
- Review daily - Keep statuses up to date
- Use all stages - Don't skip steps in your process
- Archive completed - Keep your board clean
- Set priorities - Focus on high-value opportunities
